Although still developing in boys, the masculine genius differs from the feminine genius. God created men and women to complement each other, not to be the same. Therefore, it is our duty as parents and Godparents to cultivate genuine and holy masculinity in our young boys.

Praying with the Saints for Boys features only male Saints. It is our hope that this all-star cast of heroic Catholic men will help young boys see what holiness looks like in men, whether they are called to serve God in religious life or through the vocation of fatherhood. God created men to protect, defend, and love sacrificially. These duties are written in their bodies and their souls. However, men can live as they were created to live only if they are connected to their Creator, and we connect to our Creator through prayer. Praying with the Saints for Boys shares the stories of 20 heroic Catholic men. Following a brief biography, the book explores one way this heroic man connected to God through prayer. Then, the boy reading the book is challenged to explore and possibly adopt this method of prayer. Finally, at the end of the book, boys are invited to explore an index of prayers that includes specific words and instructions for the prayers mentioned. The index also includes visual prayer aids. Praying with the Saints for Boys was written specifically for boys at the age of First Holy Communion.

The Saint biographies are short but engaging. Also, many of the prayers are very simple and easy for a child to learn and use. It is our hope that the saints featured here can become a young boy’s companions as he grows. We also hope that young boys add these prayers to their spiritual toolbelts and return to them often as they grow and head out into the world.
